Just over a month ago now I e-mailed a rescue about a one-eyed dog they had brought up from the far south. It had not yet been publicly listed for adoption but after seeing the image cruise by weeks before I could not get him out of my head.
It turned out he was sufficiently recovered from his injuries to be listed shortly. They came over days later and “Gwyd” adopted me. This frightened abused dog left his rescuers, walked over and rested his chin on my leg. It was a done deal right then, they left without him. And I had a dog to care for that night.
It’s been a wonderful five weeks now. Seeing him come out of his shell and start to trust the world. It’s a slow but steady progression to being himself again.
Welcome to a new life in Canada Gwydion. Sorry about the weather.
